Animals were always part of her family and she inherited the love for animals from her dad (a lawyer in Greece) and her grandmother. Her first dog and her best friend, a Belgian Shepherd named Blake, influenced her decision to become a veterinarian when she was 5 years old. Her passion to heal and rescue animals started around the same age. She would bring home all types of animals in need of care and companionship from dogs and cats to wildlife. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2007 from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Michigan State University (MSU). In 2009, she earned a Master’s of Science degree at MSU CVM researching Quality of Life and End of Life Care in dogs.

In 2014, she received her PhD in Community Outreach, Animal Welfare and Human-Animal Bond at MSU researching education about Dog Care and Welfare with the goal of preventing dog abuse, neglect and abandonment. She presented at the AVMA conferences regarding topics of Human-Animal Bond and Dog Behavior and Quality of Life (Welfare).
